This month we talk to Lisclare’s newest member of the team, Donna Conlan
who has joined the company as Campaign Co-ordinator.
What is your role within Lisclare?
My role is to raise awareness of Lisclare and our products. We are proud of our portfolio of products and I have been brought on board to let more people know about them.
Being new to the company, what has impressed you the most?
I think the professionalism of all the staff has impressed me. However, over and above that, the dedication to finding exactly the right product for the patient is remarkable.
Our team take time to make sure the product they recommend is exactly what the patient needs and they regularly over deliver in what the OT or patient expects. In fact, quite often when a need is identified and there are no suitable products available, Lisclare have gone away and either found, manufactured or designed what was needed.
For example, there was no suitable ‘double nursing bed’ on the market so they worked with Burmeier to create the Regia Partner Bed. There wasn’t a low-entry bed on the market that came up to the nursing height stated in the standards, so they designed a new system and worked again with Burmeier to create it.
They wanted a sling that could be used for the patient’s entire stay in hospital, so they designed and manufactured MySling.
It wasn’t enough for Lisclare to say, there isn’t a product that does that, they found a way to make it happen.
What do you like most about Lisclare?
I think mostly the wide range of products. Lisclare are committed to providing reliable, high quality products that patients and carers need and want.
At first the range of products was quite daunting, but the customer service team know the product range inside out and know just what is needed when you contact them.
Before working at Lisclare, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I returned to college a few years ago, so worked part-time as a Brand Amabassador for Bushmills Whiskey at Belfast International Airport. My job was to give out samples of the range of Bushmills whiskey and encourage people to purchase from our Duty Free Shop.
The challenge was targeting the people who might actually be interested in buying whiskey from the hen and stag dos, birthday party gangs etc. who just really wanted a free shot!
Tell us something about yourself that might surprice us!
In Sixth year at school, I sang in a trio on stage at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast – I was one of the “Three Little Maids from School!”
